ABOUT

Tanna Krewson, M.A., PhD (ABD) candidate, is a senior-level cognitive security subject matter expert and sociocultural psychologist widely recognized as one of the leading international authorities on cognitive warfare. She specializes in strategic communications, the information environment, and the influence of culture, narratives, and group identity on conflict, violence, and decision-making.

With over seventeen years of cross-sectoral experience through international NGOs, universities, and the private sector, Krewson has managed programming across multiple countries, collaborating with national governments, local populations, and indigenous communities in conflict and post-conflict settings. These efforts have included developing and leading research focused on effective justice, the impact of economic initiatives on refugees, national identity, and social norms change. Her work in these contexts has included engagement with the U.S. Department of State, the Government of Liberia, the Government of Sierra Leone, and work in partnership with the United Nations, the U.K. Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office (FCDO), the UN, and the Swedish International Development Agency (Sida).

Krewson is currently making significant contributions to the field of cognitive security, including leading the development of NATO’s Cognitive Warfare Concept and validation wargame exercise. She regularly provides specialized training on strategic communications and cognitive warfare to international government entities, most recently through the Japanese Ministry of Defense, the Polish Ministry of National Defence, and the U.S. Department of Defense. Krewson has served on the board of directors of the Peace and Justice Studies Association and has provided guest lectures at Nova Southeastern University, Tulane University, and Syracuse University.

Academically, Krewson holds degrees in cognitive psychology (B.A.) and peace studies (M.A.), and she is currently completing a Ph.D. (ABD) in global conflict analysis and resolution. Her doctoral research focuses on the impact of emerging and disruptive technologies on Ukrainian women’s participation in governance during the ongoing Russo-Ukrainian War.
